Acoustic Guitar Chords

If  you are just getting started with your new acoustic guitar, chords are where you will want to start.  You need to get a few of the basics down before you can do anything.

The most common chords for beginners are G, C, and D.  It’s unreal how many songs are composed of these 3 chords.

Once you are comfortable with those 3 chords, it’s time to learn some of the other common chords.  I generally refer students to Hotel California next, as the main riff focuses on 8 major chords including G, C, and D.  Hotel California is a great one to start on, because you don’t need to pick.  You can still play it by strumming each chord once, and then getting your fingers ready for the next one.
